Earthly Root

28/05/26

I belonged to the winds
North to East

I belonged to the summits
Frozen and brazen

I belonged to the galaxies
Expanding and collapsing

Until a heartbeat pulsated within me
Until a mouth attached on me me
Until a root grew within me

A branch
A trunk
A root

In my womb.

Connecting me to the earth
Anchoring me to the harbour
Rooting me in the present

Every cry
Every morn

Every hunger
Every night

Every urge
Every noon

Anchoring
Rooting
Entrenching me

Gladly
Wholy
Tiredly.

A wish come true
A dream come true
A prayer come true…

And yet the echoes
And yet the tremors
And yet the trickles

Of the invisible
Of the ungraspable
Of the ethereal

Still call me.

But my heart is full
But my arms are full
But my laps are full

And this isn’t the right season

To live between worlds
To glide between states
To tiptoe between words

And lose my hold.

Today I must be of

Flesh and milk
Warmth and comfort
Attention and firmness.

Always here…

Never there.
Nor beyond.
Not yet hither.

But soon I shall return to

Your Solace
Your Silence
Your Safety.
